Electrolytic saltwater purification
This natural method is a so called saltwatersystem. It is working entirely without dangerous chlorine. Common salt, sodium chloride, is a natural substance existing in huge quantities for example in seawater. Its chemical nature (NaCl) makes it ideal for swimming water purification.
It works like this: A small quantity of NaCl is added to the swimming pool water. It dissolves completely in a short time. A salt concentration of about 0,4% is ideal for perfect efficiency. In comparison: sea water has about 3,5% of salt, tear liquid about 0,9%.
In the electrolytic process the salt in the water is transformed to HOCl, a mellow type of chlorine acid. This substance is ideal for disinfection and purification of swimming water, it kills germs, bacteria and microorganisms and prevents their growth. After having done its job the HOCl is retransformed to natural salt. A perfect natural cycle origins.
The cycle of salt water purification
1. Natural common salt is added to the water once, it dissolves completely
2. An electrode cell produces the purification substance HOCl (mellow chlorine acid)
3. HOCl destroys bacteria, germs and all other microorganisms
4. After the purification the substance retransforms to natural salt
5. The salt is used again in the permanent purification cycle
The chemical process of salt water purification
Dissolving in water H2O natural common salt NaCl splits to a positive ion Na+ and a negative ion Cl-. A tiny electric DC voltage (absolutely harmless, it is only in the electrode cell) in the salt water system Na+ + Cl- + H2O makes the Na+ ions wander to the cathode (-C) and the Cl- ions to the Anode (+A).
The electrolytic process goes like this:
Cathode: Na + H2O transforms to NaOH + H*
Anode: Cl + H2O transforms to HOCl + H*
H* is hydrogen gas, it is of no smell, no taste and is absolutely non toxic.
HOCl (mellow type of chlorine acid) is the powerful substance that destroys bacteria, germs and microorganisms radically. Oxygen and ozon are not capable to do this.
Then the chemical reaction reverses and natural salt is formed again. A perfect chemical purification cycle is complete.
